چکیده

Massive Multiuser Virtual Environments (MMVEs) are rapidly expanding both in the number of users and complexity of interactions. Their needs of computational resources offer new challenges for the computer scientists. In this paper we present an implementation and some early tests of a Massive Simulation Environments, a particular MMVE, distributed over a Peer-to-Peer infrastructure. We provide some analysis of the problems related to the workload distribution in this environment. Simulation tests show a good grade of scalability and the communication overhead, due to the peers interaction, is dominated by the computational power provided by them. Keywords-Massive Simulation, Peer–to–Peer, Load Balancing.

P 2 P Infrastructure for Content Distribution

The explosive growth of the Web requires new solutions for content distribution that meets the requirements of scalability, performance and robustness. At the same time, Web 2.0 has fostered participation and collaboration among users and has shed light on Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems which involve resource sharing and decentralized collaboration. This thesis aims at building a low-cost infrastru...

Chord-PKI: A distributed trust infrastructure based on P2P networks

Many P2P applications require security services such as privacy, anonymity, authentication, and non-repudiation. Such services could be provided through a hierarchical Public Key Infrastructure. However, P2P networks are usually Internet-scale distributed systems comprised of nodes with undetermined trust level, thus making hierarchical solutions unrealistic. In this paper, we propose Chord-PKI...

Bittorrent Traffic Measurements and Models

The Internet has experienced two major revolutions. The first was the emergence of the World Wide Web, which catapulted the Internet from being a scientific and academic network to becoming part of the societal infrastructure. The second revolution was the appearance of the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) applications, spear-headed by Napster. The popularity of P2P networking has lead to a dramatic increase...

Phagocytes: A Holistic Defense and Protection Against Active P2P Worms

Active Peer-to-Peer (P2P) worms present serious threats to the global Internet by exploiting popular P2P applications to perform rapid topological self-propagation. Active P2P worms pose more deadly threats than normal scanning worms because they do not exhibit easily detectable anomalies, thus many existing defenses are no longer effective. We propose an immunity system with Phagocytes — a sma...

Trust Enforcement in Peer-to-Peer Massive Multi-player Online Games

The development of complex applications that use the Peer-to-Peer computing model is restrained by security and trust management concerns, despite evident performance benefits. An example of such an application of P2P computing is P2P Massive Multi-user Online Games, where cheating by players is simple without centralized control or specialized trust management mechanisms. The article presents ...
